Job Description Job Description FILM TEACHER .50 FTE (ANTICIPATED) Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter Public School, 7-12, Public Charter School located in South Hadley, MA Job Description: PVPA has an opportunity for a dynamic part time (.50 FTE) Film Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. We are looking for a reflective practitioner who collaborates effectively with colleagues and understands the varied needs of students in grades 7-12. We are looking for a reflective practitioner who is interested in integrating the arts into the curriculum, teaching with a social justice lens, collaborating with students and colleagues, and has experience in implementing restorative practices in the classroom. Our aim is to combine classes which focus on the history, theory, literature and cultural significance of theater with classes in performance, technique, and the creative process. A vibrant mix of performances and projects are produced annually. Candidate must have the ability to teach a variety of courses in the theater department such as film making, short film production, experiments in film ect. Under the direction of the Director of Arts, you will be responsible for: * Teaching two or three classes per semester * Use an anti-racist, anti-oppression framework to prepare curricula and instructional materials based on learning objectives. * Plan curricula and prepare course expectations and materials. * Supervise students during non-class time (ex:lunch) as required. * Assess student work and provide timely feedback to students and parents via the PowerSchool online grading system. * Apply PVPA standards based grading system to report on student course progress and achievement. * Attend and participate in regular collaborative team meetings with faculty and school-wide professional development activities * Attend and participate in meetings with students and/or parents as scheduled, including open house and parent-teacher conferences. * Coordinate with special educators to address the diverse needs of all learners * Other duties as required. Qualifications; The successful candidate will minimally hold a BA degree, be able to pass a background check (CORI/SORI & Fingerprinting) and be computer literate. Preferred qualifications include: * Two or more years of experience teaching Film in a public or private school * Eligible for “Highly Qualified” teacher status (MA Certified or able to pass Communication & Literacy and Film MTEL exam within 1 year). * Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) endorsement * Knowledge of discipline curriculum standards * Interest or experience in the arts Other Information/Instructions: Salary Range: Full time $42,000 to $66,705 annually. Additional $1,000 stipend for individuals who hold a DESE license in subject area and potential for bonus at the end of the fiscal year. 2024-2025 school year consists of 180 school days plus 5 professional development/curriculum work days and a thirty-five hour work week (for full-time) that includes, on average, three class blocks per day of collaborative/independent work time.
